If you have been skeptical, uninterested or simply uninformed, Opera 101 is the program for you. Local favorite, Kathleen Clawson, will be joined by members of the amazing Santa Fe Opera production team as they unveil the mysteries of the “Original Musical.” 

The program will present an entertaining two-part introduction to this 400 year old art form. Beginning with the musical experience, Opera Styles, Types and Singers, part two will take you to the Razzle Dazzle world of the production: Sets, Costumes, Props, Lights …Action.

*Singer, opera stage director and educator, Kathleen Clawson guides you through the deeper mysteries of opera in this fascinating half-day program. Active nationally as a classical singer in opera, on the concert stage and in recital, Ms Clawson has performed over 20 opera roles, including productions with The Santa Fe Opera and The Dallas Opera. She is the principal voice teacher for the Young Voices Program of The Santa Fe Opera and is on the faculty of the Department of Theatre and Dance at The University of New Mexico. She also serves as stage director for The Santa Fe Opera’s Apprentice Program.
